To everything turn, turn, turnThere is a season turn, turn, turnAnd a time to every purpose under Heaven.
Pete Seeger added one word, "turn," to that time-tested wisdom from Ecclesiastes and made that portion of biblical text popular in a generation when everything was being tested, stretched, challenged, and questioned. That was a season that has been revisited time and again throughout human history. During those fluctations of humanity, God has remained consistent . . . the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. As His Body, The Church has been nearly as consistent, though certianly tainted by the presence and residue of sin, but one in which The Church has not faltered has been in the celebration of The Seasons of the Chruch, a cyclical reminder of the Life, Love, Lessons, and Legacy of God through Christ.
Generally, the seasons in liturgical western Christianity are Advent, Christmas, Epiphany & Ordinary Time (Time after Epiphany until Lent), Lent, Easter, Pentecost & Ordinary Time (Time after Pentecost until Advent).
Advent - The Anticipation of Christ's Arrival . . . Jesus is COMING!
Christmas - The Celebration of Christ's Arrival . . . Jesus IS HERE!
Epiphany - The Light of Christ's Presence . . . Jesus brings the Light of His Salvation!
Lent - The Reality of Christ's Soul Transformation . . . Jesus challenges us to be CHANGED by His Love!
Holy Week - The Price Jesus Paid . . . Jesus suffers and dies for us!
Easter - The Resurrection & The Life - Christ . . . Jesus defeats death and offers LIFE!
Pentecost - The Promise of Christ . . . Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to live in us!
Ordinary Time - The Presence of Christ . . . By His Gift of the Holy Spirit, Jesus is ALWAYS with us!
