Find a quiet moment and private space ... maybe that is even in your car while waiting in a parking lot.

Read some or all of the selected texts as provided; if you choose to engage the reflection questions below, reading all of the texts will help.

Whatever portion(s) you read, "listen" for what may "ring a bell" with you.  What you "hear" what "stands out," and/or what "sticks with you" could be about anything and that might be exactly what God wants to use to encourage and/or teach you.

If you read the texts, or any of them, consider this initial thoughts and then, the questions:

Joseph & Mary were required, as everyone (most likely all males), to venture to their “own town” for the census that Caesar decreed.  However, God was working in the midst of even Caesar’s decree, to bring about God’s own purposes.  Some would say God even caused Caesar to make such a decree.

  • Are there circumstances in your life that seem to be aimless, even senseless, but you are being “forced” to endure/engage them?  If so, “name” them, write them down, and talk to God about how difficult it is.

  • Is your present season in life dull, lifeless, or uneventful, especially in regards to what God might be doing, teaching, or leading you toward? Again, “name” this reality, write it down, and talk to God about your struggle being in the spiritual doldrums.

  • However, DO NOT STOP with “naming” either dynamic, remaining “stuck”. Rather, contemplate and ask God what He might be doing in the midst that you cannot see or know and ask Him to help you remain faithful in continuing to “run your race,” knowing that He is still with you and within you through the Holy Spirit. THANK HIM for being PRESENT!
